LM27761: Best option for generating –5 V for DRV135 in audio application

Part Number: LM27761
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV135, , LM2776

Tool/software:

Hi,

I’m currently building a board for an audio application, and I’m using the DRV135 line driver.
It will be powered from +5 V and –5 V rails.

I need to generate the –5 V locally on the board, and I’m considering solutions like LM2776 or LM27761.

Which device would be the best choice in terms of lower noise performance for audio applications?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Best regards,

Mohammed

  • Hi Mohammed,

I would recommend to use LM27761 that has an integrated LDO that can help attenuate the switching ripple from the charge pump. However I would recommend to keep VIN around 5.2 to 5.5V so that there is a small delta voltage between VIN and ABS VOUT to allow the LDO to regulate out the ripple from the charge pump.

    Best regards,
