Tool/software:
Dear TI Engineer,
When using BQ24780S in our notebook, we found that when the total power consumption of the system exceeds the power consumption of the adapter, the battery does not discharge externally to supplement the system power consumption, The details are as follows:
The input current is 3A, and the maximum charging current is 4A. And the EC setting are as below:
CHGR_ChargerOption: 0xE108
CHGR_ChargerOption1: 0xC210
CHGR_ChargerOption2: 0x0384
CHGR_ChargerOption3: 0x8A44
When using a 65W adapter (20V/3.25A) for power supply(with battery), running TAT, and the CPU load is fully loaded, there is a problem of disconnected charging. The adapter will be lost and then reconnected, and it repeatedly occurs. When this problem occurs, we measured the the total power consumption of the system is to be around 60W, which stabilizes at 58W with an input current of 3A.
Running TAT load test in balanced mode, it was found that the CPU power consumption PL1 could not be maintained at the set power. After disconnecting the PROCHOT link between the CPU and BQ24780S, the CPU power could be stabilized.
According to the datasheet, the ChargeOption3 register is set to 0x8A46. It was found that this issue still exists. Is there any other parameters need to be adjusted to enable BQ24780S to enter HPB mode?
Thanks,
Kind Regards
