UCC28951: Power supply module with interleaving

Part Number: UCC28951
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2895

Tool/software:

Hello!

Does anyone have an experience with the interleaving oof the power supply modules based on the UCC28951?

How can be done interleaving and current shearing for the UCC2895?

The main goal is to design power supply source with 1kW output power based on two modules in interleaving mode.

Regards, Val

  • Hello,

Do the supplies need to be isolated from each other?

    Regards,

  • There are no need to isolate controllers from each other, but DC/DC converter itself must have isolation between input and output with 3kVac.

  • Hello,

Your inquiry has been received and will be reviewed in the order that it was received.

  • Hello,

If you have two PSFB stages using two UCC28951, you can program 1 PSFB controller as leader and the other as follower and connect the sync pins.  The two designs will be interleaved with the correct phase shift.  Information can be found in the data sheet on how to set the devices up as a leader and follower.

I would recommend setting the fundamental frequency of the follower controller to 80% of the sync frequency.  This is so the syn operation will work correctly.

To have the designs share current you should design your PSFB power stages in PCM control.  You use the leader controller’s voltage amplifier to control the voltage loop for both stages.  The follower you set the voltage amplifier up as a voltage follower and feed the output of the lead controller voltage amplifier to the EA + pin of the follower controller.  This will cause both designs to control to the same peak current and will make the designs load share.

    Regards,
