ULN2003A: Quality Issue for ULN2003ADR2G

One of our customers having issue with ULN2003ADR2G.

  • Quantity Affected: 430 pcs
  • Date Code / Lot Number / Serial Number4AC1RGK 

The customer has previously used the same part from a different lot without any issues (see attached photo for reference). However, the current lot is exhibiting abnormal behavior.

He has no issue using old lot#. (below Pic) But these.

1. Visual Inspection

There is no visible damage to the product. The issue was detected during electrical testing.
Additionally, we have received comments regarding differences in marking compared to the same product purchased through another supplier.

2. Discovery of Issue

The issue was identified during final electrical testing after product assembly, prior to shipment. See answer on #11.

As mentioned above, no visible damage was observed.

5. Functionality

The component is mounted on a PCB and shows abnormal behavior during operation.

6. Intended Application

The component is used in a control board for a soft starter device.

7. Time to Failure

The issue was detected immediately during final testing; the component did not function as expected from the beginning.

8. Previous Usage

We have previously used the same product purchased from another supplier without any issues.

9. Firmware/Software Changes

No firmware or software updates were made prior to using this batch.

10. Test Method and Equipment

  • Measurement was conducted using a memory hi-coder.
  • Load U-phase was used as common, and V/W phases were measured.
  • CH1 and CH2 voltage rise curves represent line voltage magnitude.
  • The standard requires no vibration and no discrepancy between CH1 and CH2.
  • In this case, vibration and discrepancy were observed in the curves.

No over-spec conditions were present during operation.
