UCD90160A: How to mask the single Rail Fault reporting

Part Number: UCD90160A

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

Our project use UCD90160A for Power monitor, in one of the Rail is setting for Coin battery voltage detect, normal condition it is off status by a switch, so UCD90160A always monitor 0.005V on this rail.

We want to disable this single rail Fault reporting (UV or Lower PG Vth caused), since We don't want to see the POWER_GOOD# always show on status_word.

How to do it thru PMBus Command or Register to overcome this situation, pls suggest solution, thanks!

  • HI

POWER_GOOD is a AND result of all configured rail, it can not be masked.

One way is to reduce the POWER_GOOD threshold so that 0.005 is still above POWER_GOOD.

  • Hi Yihe,

Our project totally use UCD90160A*3 pcs for ADDR: 0x34, 0x35 (P3V3_RTC for detect Coin Battery), 0x36, attached the complete GUI test result link for you reference.

Pls help to analysis as below fault log issue.

Q1. 0x34: first power up show "Watchdog Timout", this fault could be cleared, and can you provide this fault cause reason and debugging direction.

Q2. 0x35: first power up show "Other Comment Fault”, “POWER_GOOD#”, “Invalid Log” , after clear fault, still have “POWER_GOOD#”
“Invalid Log”, “More Fault in high byte”, could you help to provide these faults cause reason and debugging direction

Q3, 0x36 first power up show "Other Comment Fault”, this fault could be cleared, and can you provide this fault cause reason and debugging direction.

If need us provide more information for analysis this issue, pls let me know, thanks!

  • HI

    1. I won't expect this. is watchdog or system watchdog timeout? watchdog timeout can force UCD reset. did you observe this?

    2. https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua815 please refer this

    3. it is some communication type error which is not listed. for example unsupported protocol.
