BQ25672: Resets system power

Part Number: BQ25672

Tool/software:

Dear TI support,

In design with Ship FET, the system power reset function interferes with the logic of a device that contains the IC. However, I need to keep the possibility to turn the BQ25672 on in ship mode.
Is ot posible somehow to disable the system power reset function by disabling the ship FET present bit after detecting a low-level pulse on the QON pin and installing the bit after releasing the QON?
Does it affect any function besides the ship mode, voltage, and current capability of the IC?

The BQ25672 can work from a battery only, or VBUS only, or both sources.

Also interesting, if the bit Disable SDRV 10s Delay is installed, can we clear the bit Ship FET Present after, e.g.12s pressing without system power reset?

Best Regards,
Serhii

  • Hi Serhii,

Yes.  If the host sets ShipFET present bit = 0, /QON toggle to no longer functions.  Keep in mind this also disables ship and shutdown mode and over discharge current protection, if enable.

Regarding the 10s delay question, in theory, yes but I have not tested on the bench.  It is possible that the shipFET present bit toggle resets the 10s counter.

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

Thanks a lot, for the clarification.
