battery is charging but bq2057 burned out

battery voltage is 7.5v now.but when i verified the VCE drop ,it was very less and when multiplied by current 0.625A then it gives very less power.

actually transistor was heating up more than IC bq2057 but the IC only gone bad not the transistor..

I felt that when i increase the Vin,transistor getting heated...

now I replaced the transistor by a p channel mosfet (6.5A,75W )..but now i see if i am giving 9v from the source but the circuit not taking any current..and I am not getting any drop across Rsns to calculate the flowing current...but sometimes from source i can see that circuit taking 0.35A (half of the designed current)...at that time battery is charging  (CC is low, Stat is high)...then getting 0.04v drop across Rsns...

when i increase the Vin, the Vds also increases more than 1.5V

Are you using the EVM or your own layout?

EVM only...

And I am using two 10K ohm as a divider to give sufficient voltage on TS pin (VCC/2) to disable the function.., is that Ok..?

Send waveforms. Capture the waveforms of each pin of the IC at the time the IC is starting to get hot.  I need to look at something that will give me a clue...this part has sold over 100 million parts and this is the first complaint of this type.

But after I replaced the PNP by  P- ch mosfet, nw  IC is not getting heated. but the whole circuit is not taking any current from the source (9V),it is showing zero only and so it is not charging at all.

I am having a similar problem with my circuit.  Products are coming back with damaged BQ2057W.  The charging current is 0.5A, the battery is a 2 cell 7.4 Volt Li-ion, power supply is 9 Volts.  PD value is close to regulation, PD=1.65W at worst case.  Could this be the issue?  Was the current post solved.
