LP5891-Q1: Control method if 2 LP5891-Q1s are used

Dear TI experts,

My customer now checks the specification of LP5891-Q1 for their next project.

They already tested one LP5891-Q1 with F280039C which is referenced in EVM user's guide.

But they want to use (LP5891-Q1 x 3) x 2, total 6 LED drivers.

I already know that LP5891-Q1x3 can control using only 1 MCU, but if I should control another LP5891-Q1x3 drivers, should I use 1 more MCU to control separately?

Or it is okay to use 1 MCU to control these 2 modules?

And one more question - If I have use 2 MCUs, Is there any considerations like synchronization or other point of view?

Hi Chase,

Yes, we can use only one F280039C to control two sets of LP5891-Q1x3. You can refer to figure 3-2 and figure 3-3 in our sample code user's guide: LP5891-Q1 Sample Code User's Guide (Rev. A). Also, if you want to change it into standard SPI communication you can use LP5899 for conversion.

By the way, can I ask what application is this for?
