LM5148: 40-60V input and 58V, 20A output using LM5148 with low side MOSFETs - DC/DC converter

Part Number: LM5148
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5117, LM5190-Q1, LM5190

Tool/software:

We are planning to implement a synchronous buck design with low side FET configuration using LM5148 and additional MOSFET driver, note referring to SNVAA85 (CCCV board) for CC implementation given PCM stratedgy of LM5148

Can you please add any comments on the need of two parallel converter given the output current similarly any challange with the design we are trying to implement or suggestions for alternate design

Please not since the input of converter will be connected to inverter and output to battery there are chances of transients hence we are planning to avoid LM5117 with Vin of 65V.

Cheers

  • Hello,

Take a look at the LM5190 (or LM5190-Q1 for automotive), as this controller provides integrated CC/CV functionality. Another advantage here is the 7.5V gate amplitude to drive standard-level power MOSFETs (the LM5148 has a VCC of 5V and can only drive logic-level FETs). This will help at 20A out, as both the conduction and switching losses are reduced.

    Regards,
