I am using the BQ34Z100 to evaluate the SoC of our 8s2p LiFePO4 batteries. The problem is that during operation over several days, sudden jumps in SoC occur (for example, going from 60% to 80% or from 40% to 7%). I am unable to understand the reasons behind these jumps. The system operates during the day and stays in relaxation mode all night, so the coulomb counter correction should happen every evening, with a daily correction that should not allow such jumps.

Did you get a chemid match using the gpc chem tool?

Hi,
You can find attached the GG file. I don't have a log, but I can share the values from our supervision system.

Each line corresponds to the state of charge (SoC) measurement reported by the BQ34Z100.
We can see the battery level decreasing, which matches the actual usage of the battery by our system.
However, the green curve shows an abnormal SoC jump, which seems incorrect.

Hi,

I cannot properly debug your system without a log file of the soc error.

However, I notice there are large difference between your ra tables. This indicates to me that your ra tables are either updating irregularly or are far off and need multiple cycles to correct themselves. This error could also be related to the load.

I recommend using the gpcra0 tool to optimize your ra values.

An other question:

I am trying to update the CHEM_ID list in bqStudio.

By following the link, I found the chemistry update version 824 for bqStudio (latest version 1.3.101.1):

If I use the option "Check for newer chemistry update on ti.com" in bqStudio, it redirects me to download the Gas Gauge Chemistry Updater:

From there, I downloaded the chemistry update version 1182.

Version 824 works correctly.
Version 1182 does not work.

When installing version 1182, bqStudio shows a message saying that the chemistry update was successful. However, after restarting bqStudio and clicking on Chemistry, the list is empty.

Could you please tell me how I can get the latest functional Gas Gauge chemistry update?
To clarify, I am looking for a CHEM_ID that is not included in version 824.

Hi,

Please use the latest TEST version of BQstudio. This should allow you to use all chemids.
