BQ76952: Balance Duty Cycle problem

Part Number: BQ76952

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

When I use the AFE BQ76952,something seems like wrong as the capture.

The AFE has 16 channels, and I use the channels fully(Cell[0]-Cell[15]).

After I set configuration of the Balance, the balance duty cycle of the Cell2-Cell15 are normal as follows;

(The low edge means Balancing, the other edge means getting voltage)

normal

But the balance duty cycle of the Cell0-Cell1 are abnormal!

(The low edge means Balancing, the other edge means getting voltage)

I tried to change the frequence but it looks like same as before.

I wander how to make the balance duty cycle of Cell0-Cell1 Right , Any suggestion can leave a message behind,Thank you!

Sincerely!

DB

  • The issue has to deal with the configuration of the CB_SLOW_LOOP, due to how the cell balancing works with the Measurement Loop. To increase the average current on the top cell when balancing, the CB_SLOW_LOOP must be properly configured. Additionally, the duty cycle on cell-1 will also be a little different, since balancing is blocked there only while VC1-VC0 and VC2-VC1 are being measured, so only 2 slots out of 21, instead of 3 slots like other cells.

    For more details on the reasoning and method to configuring the CB_SLOW_LOOP please refer to this thread here. It does a great job of documenting the relevant information pertaining to this issue.

  • Hi ,

    As described above ,not only Cell0's balance duty cycle is incorrect, but also cell1's is incorrect. Apart from these two abnormal cells, the rest are all normal.
