TPS92633-Q1: Could we know which pin have open/short faiure by FAULT pin?

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Could we know which pin have open/short faiure by FAULT pin?

Table 7-1. FAULT Table With DIAGEN = HIGH (Full Function) has a lot of diagnostics, could MCU know whiich CH has FAULT, and open or short event happen then?

Ochi

  • Hello Ochi-san,

This device does not have any registers to record the failure so you will have to change the inputs to the device.

One such solution is to configure the device in a "One fails, others on" state. This schematic below shows how our TPS92624-Q1EVM uses that configuration. I have tested this with the TPS92633Q1EVM and found similar results. All of the FAULT pulldown current is dissipated by the 2.21k resistor and the voltage at FAULT is higher than V_IH(FAULT) or 2V. The output pins would leave the unobstructed channels on and working with the PWM channels. The short or open channel will follow the Fault handling routine described in table 7-1.

If you have any other questions or need help with implementation, please let me know.

    Kind Regards,

    Nicholas Alexander
