TPS25948: Cdvdt > 10nF, it is recommended to add a 100-ohm resistor, but no layout for resistor

Part Number: TPS25948

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Customer has built a PCB with TPS259480AYWPR. However, during the evaluation, they find they need to use >10nF caps on Cdvdt, and noticed there are suggestion from the datasheet which says 100-ohm resistor in seiries is recommneded. When no resistor in series but uses 0.047uF, what will happen? Customer has tested there are no issue so far.

Best regards,

Hayashi

  • HI Hayashi-san,

Yes, this is a recommendation when using higher dvdt caps. This is basically to protect the device internals from over current if short circuit happens at output during startup of the device. During regular operation, there won't be any issue if 100Ohms is not used in series with dvdt cap.
