UCD9081: Pins I can use to detect programming state to enable some logic

Part Number: UCD9081

Tool/software:

Hi folks,

I'm looking for some ideas to create a separate signal based on the state of this IC. Is there any pin on this chip that can be used to determine that the IC is in an unprogrammed state? I need to know the state to enable a separate power supply not attached to this sequencer. Is there any pattern from the various outputs that signifies a successful programming? I'm willing to use some combinational logic to make this work.

Best Regards,

Tony

  • Hi

I don't follow your question.what do you mean programming?

customer shall program the UCD since UCD comes with no configuration.

  • Hi Yihe,

I will clarify. In the case the part comes with no configuration. If power is provided to the IC, are any of the pins toggling or is everything idle/High-Z? I have a separate control line that I want to control based on the state of this IC, but I need to know if any pin/s can be used to detect the state of programming. Assume that RST hasn't been asserted and/or no I2C commands written to the device have been acknowledged.

Can any pin be monitored for this function? If I take your note on the datasheet, "All Digital I/O are in High-Z state", I think I may be able to use a EN1 for my purpose. Maybe I can measure the leakage current or unconfigured voltage. The reason I'm making this so difficult is because I need to stop a specific power rail from starting and it's not attached to an enable on this sequencer. I will probe the IC on some boards we have that currently use this IC for a different design.

    State 1: Unprogrammed, IC Idle

    State 2: Programmed, IC Configured

    Thanks!

    Tony

  • HI

All IOS are Hi-Z when there is no configuration or Reset. I don't recommend EN1.

Instead, UCD9081 has a few GPO output. you may use those GPO pins.

When there is a configuration, the GPO can be set output HIGH or LOW with certain delay.

When there is no configuration, GPO is Hi-Z.
