UCC24612: About TON BLANK

Part Number: UCC24612

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am considering the UCC24612-2.
This IC has a TON BLANK non-detection time of 540 ns (for -2) to prevent ringing from reaching the off threshold and causing the gate to turn off prematurely.
At what point does this counting start?
There is a delay of td VGON (170 ns) and tr_VG (32 ns) before the gate rises. Does it start after this has elapsed?
Or does it start from the moment VDS reverses (the moment current starts to flow)?

Best regards,

  • Hello Kaji-san,

    That is a good question.

Figure 19 implies that the TON Blanking timer starts at the same instant that the VG output is driven (starting from 0V, not at 10% rise point).
This further implies that the turn-on delay td_VGON (170ns) has already elapsed since the moment that Vds has crossed below the V_THVGON turn-on threshold of -0.24V.
I don't think that tr_VG (32ns rise time) is involved with this timing.

This is my interpretation of the datasheet information.

I will check with the Design Engineering team to verify if my interpretation is correct, but it may be a day or two before I get a reply.

    Regards,
    Ulrich
