Tool/software:
Hello,
I was going through the datasheet of the UCC5871-Q1 and read in section 8.2.2.7 (OUTH/ OUTL Outputs) that the minimum gate resistance must be no less than 1.5 ohms. I want to understand why there is a constraint on the value of Rg. In my application, the power module that I'm using has an internal gate resistance of 1.3 ohms. With the +15/-4 supply rails, that results in an ideal case maximum peak current of 14.6A, which is less than the 20A rating of the driver. Is there really a necessity to use a non-zero Rg in the design?
