Tool/software:

Hi team,

Customer would like to add X-ray inspection to the production line and they would like to confirm whether maximum intensity of X-ray is okay to the products below.

  • Hi Foong Wei Seng,

5 Greys is a lot of radiation. Our Space grade parts, which are very expensive due to radiation testing, only apply a total ionizing dose of 50-300krad/Si in their final test flow.

We do not qualify UCC5350 for radiation hardness, so I cannot confirm or deny your customer's question.

We certainly use x-rays in our Failure Analysis for UCC5350, and we do not consider it a risk to the device for following bench testing or functional analysis.

If it is a one time test, then the device can likely survive intact. This is a gate driver with large feature sizes, which is inherently more rad-tolerant than an embedded processer for example. There are devices designed for continuous radiation exposure(QMLQ QMLV rated), but UCC5350 has not been designed or qualified to meet these ratings

    Best regards,

    Sean
