Tool/software:

We are configuring the Data Blocks (State subclass) according to our battery datasheet. For block 6 (MSB) and block 7 (LSB) offsets, we set the Design Capacity, and for offsets 8 and 9 we set the Design Energy.

Do we need to perform this configuration on every power cycle?

Currently, after we configure these parameters, they work correctly. But once the power is completely removed and reapplied, the gauge reverts to default values. Only after reconfiguring does it again work according to our battery specifications.

Yes, you have to configure every parameter that is different from the default values whenever the gauge sets the ITPOR bit. That's because this gauge keeps its working configuration in RAM, which is lost when the gauge is power cycled.

then what is meant by NVM as in datasheet they mentioned this NVM blocks cannot be erased after power cycle also.

The gauge HW has OTP which can be programmed once. However, this is already programmed by TI for the most part and it's not practical to re-program this within its limitations. Please disregard the reference to NVM.
