TPS25751: some question need to confirm

Part Number: TPS25751

Tool/software:

Hi,

There have some question need to confirm.

Question 1: Do Type-C CC1 and CC2 communicate directly with TPS25751D without the need for host control?
Question 2: Do Type-C SBU1 and SBU2 communicate directly with any two GPIO of TPS25751D? Does ADC only need to connect 3.3V?
Question 3: When DP and DM of type-c are connected to TPS25751D and host simultaneously, will there be a conflict? What is the working principle?

  • Hello Conor,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Question 1: Do Type-C CC1 and CC2 communicate directly with TPS25751D without the need for host control?

Yes, the CCx lines are used for PD negotiations and can communicate directly with the PD controller.

Question 2: Do Type-C SBU1 and SBU2 communicate directly with any two GPIO of TPS25751D? Does ADC only need to connect 3.3V?

Do you plan to use the SBU lines for liquid detection? If so, the SBU lines must be connected to GPIO4 and GPIO5 for liquid detection.

Yes, the resistor divider is tied to LDO3V3, see picture below.

Question 3: When DP and DM of type-c are connected to TPS25751D and host simultaneously, will there be a conflict? What is the working principle?

The DP/DM lines is a differential pair used for USB data transfers. This means both lines are used simultaneously to send data. For PD application, these lines are muxed to GPIO4 and GPIO5 for BC1.2.

Keep in mind the TPS25751 does not support both BC1.2 and Liquid detection simultaneously as both features need the GPIO4 and GPIO5 pins.

    Thank you,
