LM5117: Request for Reference Design: 500 W / 1 kW Interleaved Buck Converter with CC/CV Support

Part Number: LM5117
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP30189, PMP11282, PMP30301, , LM5190, LM5137

Tool/software:

Dear TI Team,

I am working on a high-power DC-DC application for a battery charger, and my requirements are:

  • Input Voltage: ~28 VDC
  • Output Voltage: 24 VDC (CC/CV mode)
  • Output Power: 500 W (scalable to ~1 kW in the future)
  • Topology: Interleaved synchronous buck (preferred)
  • Control: External MCU (STM32) to manage CC/CV regulation

I have reviewed reference designs such as PMP11282 and LM5117-based designs (PMP30189, PMP30301). However, I am specifically looking for:

  1. A TI reference design or evaluation board that closely matches these requirements (24 V, ~20 A, CC/CV supported).
  2. Guidance on implementing a multi-phase interleaved synchronous buck using TI controllers (e.g., LM5117) for this power level.
  3. Application notes or examples on CC/CV implementation (either analog using current monitor pins or digital via MCU control).

Could you kindly suggest the best TI reference design, evaluation kit, or controller family for this application?

Additionally:

  • Can PMP11282 be adapted (e.g., paralleled or scaled) for ~500 W operation?
  • Does PMP11282 natively support CC/CV mode?

Looking forward to your guidance.

Best regards,
Anand Matta

  • Hello Anand

LM5117 doesn't support both CCCV and interleaved buck topology.  LM5190 features CCCV control but doesn't support interleaved buck topology. LM5137 is a dual channel device with supports interleaved buck topology, but requires an external circuit to support CCCV operation. Unfortunately, no perfect solution now. Please create  a new post if you'd like to ask questions about LM5190 or LM5137.
