Dear Team,

I am also looking for "Ideal diode/ORing controllers" for 48V input protection. I see a lot of options in the matrix: Ideal diode/ORing controllers product selection | TI.com.

Please suggest a suitable part for 30V to 60V input range and maximum of 15Amps load current. Typical application is 48V automotive ECU protection.  The main features required are reverse voltage protection, reversed current, Undervoltage, overvoltage. The part should withstand ~70V load dump for short periods (i.e, the absolute maximum should be >70V).

Also is the any companion Ideal diode/ORing controllers device available for buck convertor "LM5137-Q1", please suggest.

  • Hi Selvaraj,

    Please check LM74910H-Q1.

  • Hi Shiven,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I found another part "TPS4810-Q1 -Automotive, 100V low-Iq dual high-side driver with short circuit protection and diagnostics" which is also recommended for the 48V input protection.

Could you advise the difference between the LM74910H-Q1 family of parts and the "TPS4810-Q1"? Which one is more suitable for battery supply rail protection in 48V ECUs?

Additionally the "LM74910H-Q1" datasheet says "The wide input supply of 3V to 65V allows protection and control of 12V and 24V automotive battery powered ECUs." . Is there any known limitation to use this part in 48V applications?

  • Hi Selvaraj,

TPS4810-Q1 does not have reverse current blocking whereas LM74910H has reverse current blocking.

LM74910H-Q1 and LM74910-Q1 share the same datasheet and hence it says 12 and 24V systems.

LM74910H-Q1 is a fresh release and is made for 48V system with increased abs-max ratings.
