TPSI31P1-Q1: Additional Current Sense Amplifier off Resistor

Part Number: TPSI31P1-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

I'm attempting to add a current sense amplifier on the output of a TPSI31-Q1 reference design. I want to ensure that the input impedance of the amplifier won't load down the current sense output such that the function of the IC is affected. I'm not certain that this will be a problem, but I wanted to confirm before ordering parts.

Is there any way I can get confirmation on the minimum input impedance which will not affect the IC's current sense functionality?

Thank you!

  • Hello Cameron,

Thanks for joining E2E and reaching out to our team!

Can you please share your application details (voltage, time, capacitance)?

I think the input impedance should be fine especially >kΩ as this would only draw <mA range. The precharge circuit logic is very simple, current will flow as long as Vbat > Vlink and it will PWM the MOSFET if the load current reaches the user-defined Ipeak threshold.

It may be more a question of how much leakage current from link capacitor are you okay with after precharging.

    Best regards,
