TPS61381-Q1: How does the TPS61381-Q1 avoid interference with AM?

Part Number: TPS61381-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear friend,

As the title. I wonder to know How does the TPS61381-Q1 avoid interference with AM? Are there any actual measurement data? Is it because the specification document mentions the PFM and PWM mode switching as well as the frequency modulation function to solve this issue?

  • Hi Yuming,

Usually AM band starts with 535kHz to 1MHz. TPS61381 applies 400kHz with spread spectrum to avoid AM band. Also, TPS61381 boost mode is only activated when 12V main battery is disconnected. So there'll be no conductive EMI issues. Charger mode applies LDO charge and there'll be no frequency either.

  • Hi Mr.Wang,

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any actual measurement to approve your opinion?  And I have another question. this IC leakage current is about 20μA. the another vendor supply similar IC current is about 1μA.  Can the leakage current decline to that?

  • Hi yuming,

As I've mentioned before, TPS61381 boost mode is only activated when 12V main battery is disconnected. Therefore there's no way to set up EMI test.

The leakage current is 0.1uA typical. 20uA is the active Iq. I believe 1uA active Iq is not possible for any vendor considering current silicon process. Please make sure you've checked the difference between quiescent current and leakage current.
