UCC5880-Q1: UCC5880-Q1 gate driver with SPI communication Recommendation if Control board is far from Gate driver board

Hi TI team, 

Need your expert recommendation on usage of SPI communication of UCC5880-Q1 gate driver/  UCC5880-Q1 for our below project details and challenges:

1. Project is for 3000V DC system, need gate driver with > 20A 

2. our Control board will sit far from the Gate driver board

3. Chances of common mode noise 

For above scenario, can you please share your recommendation on usage of UCC5880-Q1 with SPI communication? 

or Any other gate driver part with SPI that suits for above application?

    Hi Chandra,

    I recommend ensuring that there is a ground layer underneath the SPI lines to reduce the parasitic inductance.

    Also, adding an RC filter at the gate driver's inputs is recommended.

    You may also try adding a choke to the lines to further reduce the noise.

    Lastly, there is the CRC and SPI_FAULT features on the gate driver to help confirm data validity.
