TPS65223-Q1: pmic not powering up.

Part Number: TPS65223-Q1

Tool/software:

i've got a design with the tps65223-q1 implementing the pdn-7a5 power config.  this powers the pmic from 5.0v.  on power up, i see the sw1 rail start to run for about 6.2ms, then it shuts down.  this repeats some number of times before it stops trying.  it appears to be a overcurrent but it's hard to tell.   measuring the rails impedance at power off give a number in the kohms.  so there's no dead short or anything.   do you have any ideas for me?  thanks!  210-0490-rva_b4_u_c_v20250912_1-p19v.pdf

  • i've looked at the sw4 output at the same time as the sw1.  it powers up before sw1, and it goes to 5v.  this is supposed to be a 3.3v rail.  it's on for around 8ms.

  • i put the sw2 on the scope with the other two.  it's correctly coming up at 1.1v, but gets shut down the earliest.  with the sw4 going to 5v, it's hard to predict what chips will be blown.

    yellow is 1.8v sw1, blue is sw4 at 3.3 (but showing 5v), and magenta is sw2 1.1v.

  • Hi Bob,

since basically all information of this device is under NDA I would like to move this thread to internal forums. Do you have a sales person or FAE from TI who could help you set this up?

Have you tried this with another board or another PMIC? I would like to have the interrupt information of the PMIC in order to narrow down the root cause. Please see the data sheet on how to read the interrupts.

    regards,

    Niko
