LM5158-Q1: Behavior in case of input over-voltage

Part Number: LM5158-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

I saw the component has an overvoltage protection.

So I just want to confirm the overall behavior to secure our design.

We are using the component to generate a 45V and our input voltage can raise up to 60V during 400ms sometimes.

My understanding is that the component will stop the switching and the voltage on the output will follow the voltage on the input.

Am I correct ?

Best regards,

Clément

  • Hi Clement,

    Thanks for reaching out.

You are right. When the input is higher than the target output, the device stops switching. The output will then be the input minus the diode drop of the rectifier.

    Best regards
