TPS7H4001-SP: Need to know the difference of this BUCK Converter and BUCK Regulators

Hi,

This is Dinesh from iWave Global. I have checked this TPS7H4104-SEP part, this is a buck converter. I have checked regarding this and came to know that both buck converters and buck regulators are same except that buck converters does not have feedback loop to regulate the voltages. But I have checked in this datasheet Feedback Loops are there. Can you tell me, whether it is BUCK Converter or BUCK Regulator and what is the differences between them? Looking forward to the response.

Hello Dinesh,

The terms "Buck Converter" and "Buck Regulator" are interchangeable, and generally refer to the same thing.

TPS7H4104 and TPS7H4001 (along with the rest of our space-grade integrated-switch bucks) include feedback and a control loop to regulate the output.

Hi Dinesh,

As I said in my previous reply. Both terms are interchangeable. However, I do not see what you are referring to.

On ti.com, both devices are listed under the "AC/DC & DC/DC converters (integrated FET)" section, and the product folder titles label both as "synchronous step-down converter". In both datasheets, the devices are also called "Buck Converter". Although the term "Buck Regulator" does appear in the TPS7H410x datasheet, it has the same meaning as "Buck Converter".
