TPS281C100: IC consumes 8mA on 48V during EN off

R76 is DNP

I have observed the current intake of IC is around 8mA, when EN is low, so temperature rises to 50deg at room temperature.

When i enable the IC, the current drops by 8mA on toal Board supply, and IC temperature reduces to 38 deg.

Also when i remove r84 (DIAG EN= float), the  current drops by 8mA on toal Board supply, and IC temperature reduces to 38 deg.

My questions is whether this is normal ?

    Hi Deepak,z

    Yes, this is expected. When DIAG_EN is high and there is a fault, SNS will be pulled up with an internal 6.4mA current source (derived from VS), which will cause some power dissipation and temperature rise in the IC. When the IC is disabled, it is probably seeing an open load fault, which will clear when EN goes high.
