BQ24610: Power Path management solution for 65W wall adapter and Battery charging circuit

Part Number: BQ24610

Tool/software:

Dear TI Team,

We are developing a high-power router application based on the ConnectCore93 processor, with additional 5G and dual Ethernet interfaces. The system power requirement is approximately 65 W.

Our architecture includes:

  • Primary Source: PoE module regulated output or Wall adapter(12V)
  • Backup Source: LiFePO battery pack
  • Requirement for seamless ORing / power path management between the two sources
  • Battery charging from the primary source(wall adapter) while simultaneously supplying system load

We are looking for a TI charger IC or reference design that can:

  • Manage power path seamlessly between source and battery
  • Support LiFePO charging profile
  • Deliver continuous system power up to ~65 W
  • Provide safeguards for thermal and safety compliance

In addition, we would appreciate your recommendation on battery pack sizing (voltage level and capacity) that would be most suitable for achieving a practical backup solution for this system.

Could you kindly suggest suitable charger ICs or reference designs, along with guidance on battery sizing for this use case? Please let us know if you need additional details regarding our design to provide the best recommendation.

Looking forward to your guidance.

  • Hello Venkatesh,

In addition, we would appreciate your recommendation on battery pack sizing (voltage level and capacity) that would be most suitable for achieving a practical backup solution for this system.

Typically we do not recommend battery pack options, I would reach out to a battery pack manufacture.

After you find a battery pack you want to use, we can recommend different options.

    Best Regards,

    Christian.
