TMUXHS221F: Multiplexing (CC1, CC2 and VUSB) to use either: a docking station (primary), or USB-C connector (secondary), to negotiate with a USB-C PD Controller

Part Number: TMUXHS221F

Tool/software:

Can I use a TMUXHS221F (USB/UART switch) to mux the CC1 and CC2 lines of 2 USB-C connectors to a TPS25751S? The USB-C connections are for attachment of a 60W USB-C PD source. One connection is supplied from a docking station, the other is simply a convenience connection USB-C port. The docking station would be the default source. The secondary port would allow a PD source to be connected if the docking station was unavailable. The USB-C data lines are not used the connections are used to negotiate a 12V 5A supply from the PD source.

  • Hi John,

TMUXHS221F is compatible with USB-C signals, so it should be fine to pass the CC1 & CC2 lines through the mux, as long as it's powered by a 2.3 or 5.5V signal. I'll loop in the team for TPS25751S to comment on their side.

    Best,
    Katy
