TPS2661: TPS2661x Simulation

Part Number: TPS2661

Tool/software:

I want to implement protection for a 4-20 mA analog input from voltage supply (from a voltage source) up to 30 V. It is better if the sensor connection is floating (so that the GND of my circuit does not match one of the external sensor wires).
Only one direction of current measurement is required. I would like to avoid using a bipolar power supply.
I tried to simulate a TI model in PSPISE for TI from the website according to the connection diagram on the microchip page on the website.

As a result, PSPICE shows inadequate currents of less than a nanoampere.

Please advise on a compact circuit solution with TI components and how to make the model simulate adequately.

  • Hi

The challenge is PSpice does not allow you to leave any net floating.

Please try as below. but i suggest to get an EVM and evaluate.

  • I have come to the conclusion that the model does not work very well. In particular, even the internal pull-up in the EN pin does not work, and voltage must be supplied from the outside. The model stubbornly refuses to work with the voltage source at the input (even with current-limiting resistors). In most cases, the simulation crashes with errors.
Where did you get this diagram? (It looks like it's from some PDF file.)

  • Hi Andrey,

our team used current sources at the input for evaluation to emulate the current-loop protection of the device.

Please try if that works for you.

Unfortunately, PSpice tool has limitations when it comes using various ground references
