TPS923655DRRREVM: Output Current Variation With L/C Values and Sense Resistor Setting

Part Number: TPS923655DRRREVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am evaluating the TPS923655DRRREVM with the following target conditions:

Input: 24 V

Output: 36 V, 1 A

I set the current sense resistor to 0.2 Ω (calculated value), but the actual output current is only around 800 mA.
For the power stage, I am using an inductor of 22 µH and an output capacitor of about 20 µF. However, I found that changing the inductance or output capacitance significantly affects the output current—easily by about 100 mA.

My questions are:

Is this level of variation expected due to the device’s operating principle?

For a finished product, should I plan to leave more margin and adjust the sense resistor value during final tuning?

Should I also take into account the possible reduction of inductance or capacitance over time, as this could further impact the output current?

Thank you for your advice.
