Tool/software:

Hi Ti Team,

I want to build a full bridge circuit to drive a step up transformer for programmable variable frequency power inverter on in simple term programmable power amplifier.

I only have 24 V power supply available to me, as this design will be fitted in tight enclosure and entire system will be power by 24V lithium ion battery.

I need to build a full bridge which will be powered by this battery and the outputs of full bridge will be connected to a step up transformer. My input to the system will be from micro controller which will generate a complimentary variable duty cycle PWM signals. Since my VDS is 24V, and to ensure very smooth switching action to happen I need a gate driver with following specifications:

  1. Configuration: Half Bridge or Full bridge
  1. Mosfet Drive voltage: 24V (The bridge is powered from 18-25.4 Volt battery)
  1. Gate Driver supply voltage: 15V
  1. Type: Isolated
  1. Protection and Features: Power good, active miller clamp, in built bootstrap diode, short circuit and undervoltage and over voltage protection, dead time control preferably 100 nS.

Reason I want to use active miller clamp is to negate the use of negative power supply. Please guide me.

  • Hi Sumeet,

If a simple dual-channel gate driver with EN/DIS, UVLO, and dead time control is what you are looking for, then I would first recommend to look into UCC21550. However, the protection features you mentioned such as power good, active miller clamp, etc. are not currently a part of our dual-channel portfolio. For those features, I would recommend checking out our products in the UCC217xx part family (such as UCC21750, UCC21710, or UCC21737). If you'd like, I can loop in one of our experts for the UCC217xx part family to help answer any other questions you may have about those devices.

    Best regards,

    Will
