TPS2819-Q1: Output state during power-up and power-down.

Part Number: TPS2819-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2819, TL331

Tool/software:

Good morning,

Could you please let me know what happens to the output of the device during power-up and power-down of the VDD supply (we use a 15V supply).

The control input of the TPS2819 is being driven by the open-collector output of a TL331 with a 10k pull-up to the VCC output of the TPS2819's LDO.

Regards

John

  • Hi John,

While the driver is powering up and powering down, the logic of the output pin will follow the logic on the input pin. The logical high seen on the output pin will follow the voltage on VCC, even during power up. See the below diagram from the datasheet.

Be aware that at at very low voltages, before the predrive circuitry has enough power supplied to begin functioning, the state of OUT is high impedance. Because of this, we recommend ensuring that the input is held low during power-up and power-down.

Many of our parts have undervoltage lockout (UVLO). UVLO monitors the supply pins of a gate driver to make sure that the voltage remains above a certain threshold to ensure proper operation. UVLO prevents the outputs from switching until the voltage reaches a certain threshold. We are happy to help you with the selection of the correct part for your application.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Best,

    Amy
