Hi,
Can I use TPS55288 as an USBC Buck-Boost Convertor: Input range 5V-20V, output 12V, maximum current 8A?
If not, can you please recommend one for this application?
Thank you.

Hello George,
This is dependent on the cooling you have available. In general I would recommend having a look to LM251772 for this power range. This has all 4 switches externally which makes it easier to spread heat.

Brigitte
Hi Brigitte,
Appreciate the fast feedback.
I tried the WEBENCH with the LM251772, with " Input range 5V-20V, output 12V, maximum current 8A
, nominal 6.7A, max ripple 2%", and got the following failure message:
This device/topology does not support required Output Power. OpVal table param temperature > 150°C
Can you please advise a solution for this?
Thanks,
George
Is there any concern if I use LM5175 for this application? or better solution definitly appreciated.
Best Regards,
George
Hello George,
There is something not as expected on Webench. We will check why this happened.
I recommend using the quickstart calculator: LM251772-QUICKSTART-CALC Calculation tool | TI.com
LM5175 is ok, but I would say LM251772 is the better solution.
Best regards,
Brigitte
