TPS62864: Reduce external resistor at A2 pin.

Part Number: TPS62864

Tool/software:

Hi team,

An external resistor must be connected at VSET pin of TPS62864.

When using TPS628640A, VID is available at A2 pin. Does it need resistor connected when VID is not needed?

When using TPS628640B, /PG is available at A2 pin. Does it need resistor connected when /PG is not needed?

Because customer doesn't uses VID and /PG/, customer is looking for a way to reduce a resistor. Therefore, in addition, are there no ways to set output voltage before EN pin is triggered?

Regards,

Hayashi

  • Hello Hayashi,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

Placing a VSET resistor is the only way to set the output voltage before EN pin is triggered.

Connecting VSET pin to GND would be possible, but it would result in VOUT of 0.9 V after start-up.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.

  • Hi Andreas,

Where does "VSET pin to GND results in VOUT of 0.9V after start-up" written? It is a good option if 0.9V is acceptable, but I need double-check.

    Hayashi

  • Hi Hayashi,

unfortunately the VSET to GND option it is not documented. I found out by trying it in the lab and confirming with the IC expert that this option is a valid use case and will not harm the device.

I will check with the datasheet owner and see if the VSET to GND option can be added to the table.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
