Understood, can you elaborate more on "unable to really control when charge and discharge happen"? Maybe we can test the gauge by itself first to see if it is the root cause of your issue.

Sure. In order to complete the learning cycle, I used an external power supply connected to J3/J4 to provide a charge current. Within BQStudio I was able to control this using the CHG_FET_TOGGLE command while GAUGE_EN was high. To discharge, I replaced the power supply with a power resistor. I was able to start and stop discharge using the DSG_FET_TOGGLE command. Once the learning cycle was complete, I configured the system as described in the Autonomous Smart Batter Guide Application Note, but was unable to initiate any charge or discharge. I have the NR and BCAST bits set to 1. Let me know if there is any other context I can provide.

Hi Miguel,

If I have a power supply or a discharge resistor attached directly to PACK+/-, then I'm able to control the charge or discharge (depending on which load is connected) using those commands. However in the configuration with the BQ25710EVM as detailed in the App Note, I am not able to start or stop charge/discharge.
