To TI Representative,

I am considering using the BQ40Z80.

To obtain the Cell Voltage 1–4 data, I am planning to read the “DAStatus1” register.
“DAStatus1” can be read using command 0x71, but in the SEALED state, it must be accessed using 0x0071.

Could you please explain why the device restricts access via 0x71, even though the information is available in the SEALED state?

Also, can I assume that the data obtained using 0x0071 is the same as that obtained using 0x71?

The 0x0071 vs 0x71 should only depend if you are using a write word command or a write block command. Have you tried through bqstudio to see if there is any difference through the Advance Comm SMB window?

Hello Miguel,

I’ve confirmed that there are differences in Advance Comm SMB.
What I’d like to understand is why the data that can be read using ManufacturerBlockAccess() is also made accessible via the ManufacturerAccess() command.
Wouldn’t it be sufficient to use only ManufacturerBlockAccess()?

ManufacturerAccess is available because our older gauges used command 0x00. As the requirements of the amount of data increased over time, we created the 0x44 command to allow those new commands.
