UCD90320: Fatal Programing Error- Device not found

Hi Experts,

Can you help with the customer inquiry below?

We have been using UCD90320 in one of our OAM board design. During bring up of this board we were able to install configure many configurations on this device. But recently we are unable to upload any configuration file into this device.

Now whenever we flash the UCD90320 with a new configuration on a fresh board we face a Fatal programing error. After which the device no longer can be found on the I2C buss. Though the new configuration are programmed inside the RAM of the device.

I have attached a picture of the error. Kindly let us know if there are more information needed.

Can you try the latest GUI: TI-Fusion-Digital-Power-Designer-7.10.19.zip, to see if you still see the issue?

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried programming the device using the new software version, but unfortunately, the error still persists.
I also attempted programming each rail individually; however, after successfully programming up to the 7th rail, I encounter the following error during the hardware write of the 8th rail.

We have tested this on multiple boards and with different programming dongles, but the issue remains the same.

I’ve attached the .xml configuration file for your review. Please let me know if any additional information or logs would be helpful in diagnosing this issue.

I have been using the .xml file. The one attached in above reply. I also did try to program the device by writing each rail one by one, and i got the error while writing the 8th rail.

Hi,

We recommend importing configuration using Data Flash stored in project file instead of PMBus data.

If you have to use PMBus Registers data for importing, you might experience some NACK due to device busy handling the changes. In this case, make sure to turn all rails off, and make sure there are no fault on rails, and you might have to try importing few times to import all rails.

Hi,

Thank you for your prompt response.
I would like to add that we are already importing data flash stored in project file.
However, as i mentioned before, after encountering this error we are no longer able to detect the device on the I2C. So, it is not possible for us to try multiple time to import data.

Hi,

Can you use UCD90XX Device GUI to scan for device in ROM mode?

"UCD90XX Device GUI" tool can be launch from PC-> Start menu -> Fusion GUI -> UCD90xx Device GUI and then click on "Scan Device in ROM Mode" link .

Hi, Humza Khan,

Do you have the project file of the device that you try to import UCD90320 3.0.0.3330 Address 17 Project File_0716_006 (1).zip to?

If device cannot be detected by either ROM or Program (using DEVICE_ID link), then unfortunately device is unresponsive. Please contact TI sale rep regarding this.
