TPS65214: TPS65214 Vin selection

Part Number: TPS65214

Hi expert,

The input voltage of tps65214 can be 3.3V or 5V.. So under what circumstances should we use 3.3V and 5V respectively?

Regard,

Kyel

  • Hi Kyle,

What specific OPN of TPS65214 are they using? i.e. TPS6521401VAFR or TPS6521402VAFR?

It likely depends on what processor is being powered, and what output voltages the TPS65214 PMIC will be set to.

For example, if any of the buck outputs are set to 3.3V, then a 5V input must be used to maintain headroom between VIN and VOUT.

Else, generally 3.3V can be used, or user can select between 3.3V or 5V for desired voltage level.

The specific TRM for the specific OPN will have more information on the recommended use case.

    Best Regards,
    Sarah
