Hi team,

My customers and I are wondering the reason why there is an inductor on the output stage of this LDO? Also in the EVM's schematic there is an added inductor there.

Any special function for this inductor? Or it is just for filtering the noise? Can customers not add this or replace it with a Ferrite Bead?

    Hi Manu,

    The main purpose of the inductor is to model parasitic inductance. It is included on the EVM to demonstrate the inductive clamp feature. 

    It is not necessary, the device will meet all its specs and function as expected if the customer does not add it.

    It can, however, provide an additional noise filtering benefit simply because of the additional LC filter on the end. A ferrite bead works as well for this purpose.
