LM5022: The schematic issue for LM5022

Part Number: LM5022

Hi,

We use the LM5022 for the buck design, and now, we test the D1 diode temperature is more than 126℃,

and please check our schematic that if there are any error for our design, the input is 12V, and output is 6V,

and then, the load adjustment rate is also very poor. When it reaches 18W, the output was originally 6V,

but later it can only reach 5.1V; Pull up to 15W and below, the output can be stable at 6V.

  • Hello Zhang,

    thank you for using E2E.

We will check and come back to you beginning next week.

    Best Regards,

    Johannes

  • Hello Zhang,

When the output voltage is 5.1V and the output power is 18W, the output current is 3.53A. This means 3.2W of power dissipation in the diode. As the thermal resistance of the diode is 40C/W, the temperature rises roughly 127C in your application case.

Please use a diode with a lower forward drop and a package that can dissipate the power.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
