TPS7A20: TPS7A2009 ESD Issue

Dear Engineer,

Feedback on a question: Is the ESD capability of TPS7A2009 weak? If there is a slight ESD, it will no longer output and needs to be powered on again.
My circuit is placed inside a shielding case, so ESD cannot reach TPS7A2009 at all. Unexpectedly, upon touching the shielding cover, it stopped outputting. I switched to similar devices from other companies and achieved the highest level of ESD, which is normal.

Please help confirm, thank you.

Hello Chu,

Would you be able to share the part number of the competitor devices that are surviving the stress condition?

Can you please specify if the device is suffering permanent damage, or after power cycle the device goes back into regulation?

Do you know what was the peak voltage and the duration of the stress event?

TPS7A2009 no damage, after power cycle the device goes back into regulation.

Hello Chu,

It sounds like the device latched because of the stress event. The ESD structure are meant to protect the device, which in this scenario seemed to work.
