TPS7A44: MID_OUT pin function on TPS7A44

Part Number: TPS7A44

Hello,

I was looking at the datasheet for this LDO, and was wondering what the exact purpose of the MID_OUT voltage pin is. Under what conditions can this pin be left grounded if unused? Looking to connected OUT pin to a Power over Ethernet Power Sourcing device.

Thanks,

Anagha

  • Hi Anagha,

MID_OUT is the output of an internal pre-regulator that can be configured (via MVSEL1 and MVSEL2) as a 10V, 12V, or 15V output. Vout is then regulated from MID_OUT. As noted in the Pin Functions table, MID_OUT must not be connected to GND, even if unused, and must have sufficient capacitance to ensure the LDO remains stable. Notes on capacitance requirements can be found in the Recommended Operating Conditions section of the datasheet.

    Best Regards,
