LM51770EVM-HV: How to rework the LM51770-HV EVM for 60V output

Part Number: LM51770EVM-HV
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM51770

There are two questions:

1. Why is the inductance value of 22uH selected on the EVM? The calculation tool recommends a value below 5.7uH.

2. What modifications should I make if I want the EVM to output 60V/4A?

  • Hi Fan,

the EVM was designed to also support higher output voltages.

This are not supported by the EVM per default due to safety reasons with high voltage.

So for higher voltage output you need to be some soldering and should ensure that you have the right environment and qualification for operating circuits above 50V.

In this case just adjust the FB divider for 60V output. The EVM is able to support this from MSOFET and capacitor ratings.

  • I believe the circuit parameter derating should support higher input voltages. Why does EVM indicate a maximum input voltage of 48V? If my input is 54V, what other factors should I consider?

  • Hi Fan,

as mentioned the board was designed to support input and output voltage up to the max of the LM51770.

As we do not test the board for higher voltages then 48V and also can not ensure that the user is following all required safety standards for working with voltages above 50V we do not specify the EVM to be used for the higher voltages.

    Best regards,
