BQ2980: BQ298xx : not using Current Sense function

Part Number: BQ2980

Hi,

I want to design an undervoltage (= overdischarge) protection for a battery with a BQ298xx.

I do not want to add a shunt current (space constraint) as I already have another circuit for overcurrent protection.

What is the best practice ? Is it ok to just add a copper trace instead of RSNS resistor ? Is there any risk to trigger a current protection ?
