Soft-start control of LMZ10501

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has experience in using the soft-start features of the LMZ10501 module. I understand that this is a National part, but they don't have a forum, and LMZ1051 announcements have already been made on this forum...

The datasheet makes it seem that soft start is not configurable, the way it is with something like the LMZ10503. However, that whole line is much larger than the LMZ10501... Nonetheless, Webench classifies the LMZ10501 as a regulator with controllable soft start. Does anyone know how to set that? I want to have a 3.3V to 1.5V conversion start-up take between 2-4ms, as opposed to the 70us that it took on the Startup plot on pg. 8 of the LMZ10501 datasheet.

Hello,

The softstart function of the LMZ10501 is integrated and cannot be adjusted externally. Slower startup time (2ms-4ms) will not be achievable in this case.

Note that even though the startup of the LMZ10501 is quite fast, the output voltage ramp up is smooth without any overshoot.

The processor I'm powering really cares about the voltage ramp-up time, it's important to give it several ms of ramp-up time. No one seems to have a small module to do this, the only way to keep the size down seems to be to use the LM2852. Guess I'll be going with that.
