TPS61165: Need help with simulation model

Part Number: TPS61165

Hello,

I am trying to use the simulation model and run a PSPICE for TI simulation with temperature sweeps.

I see the PSPICE model for this part has defined TNOM=27, while the temperature sweeps run for temperatures like 28C 26C, If I set them to around 35C or 50C. I get a convergence problem in transient bias point calculation.

  These devices failed to converge: X_U1.D_D31 X_U1.D_D30 X_U1.X_U26.D_D10 X_U1.X_U94.D_D10

If I set the temperature to 105C -40C or so for temperature sweeps, then I get an overflow error on diode model DD

ERROR(ORPSIM-16551): Floating point computation failed during Device/Model Load. Possible solutions: 1)Ensure that all device parameters are in valid range. 2)Try using .options LIMIT Overflow in device D_D1, Exp(885.227) INTERNAL ERROR -- Overflow in device D_D1, Exp(885.227)

Kindly assist in this regard,

small temperature increments seem to work but reasonable temperature increments seem to be problematic and higher temperatures like 105C and -40C to evaluate the peak currents etc. are what I am desiring to see before a lab test.

I did add temperature coefficients in the schematic to the components like Inductor, Resistor etc. wherever possible.

  • Hi

do you vary the input/output capacitor / resistor values that vary over temp and applied voltage (also the inductor if applicable)? and is it still not working?

  • Hello,

I have added a Temp coefficient property to the resistor and inductor and depending on this property to change the resistance and inductance as the simulation runs for 27C and other temperatures. I am not physically changing the values of those components by calculating them at different temperatures for each simulation run.

The simulation output file does not show any error for these components, so I think for those components the temperature sweep would still run.

I did not vary the applied voltage, but when I select the voltage sweep option at 4V 5V and 5.5V. The simulation runs perfectly.

  • Sorry that I'm facing a problem when install Pspice, pls let me check with internal team to install this and then check this case later.
