TPS6593-Q1: Scalable PMICs GUI Issue

I'm trying to program a TPS6593-Q1 through the GUI. I don't want multi-phase operation of the BUCK regulators, but the GUI defaults to multi-phase and the option to change the configuration is greyed out as you can see in the screen shots.

Which version of the GUI are you using? Did you start from an existing configuration?

Hi Bruce,

Do you have the BUCK configured for multi-phase/4-phase? I think you would have to deselect that first.

The GUI doesn't let me change the configuration as shown in the first screen shot above. Does this rail want to be optimized for multiphase configuration. No is greyed out. Also the second screen shot that shows BUCK1_2_3_4_4 doesn't allow any changes.

Hi Bruce,

Go to SYSTEM INFO tab and change PHASE_CONFIG value to 1+1+1+1 if you don't want multiphase. Then you'll be able to modify the BUCKs.

This fixed the issue, but I still have a question. Why are there two Vout selections when the BUCK is configured for one phase?

Hi Bruce,

This is not related to multiphase, it is just a device feature. There are 2 VOUT registers for each BUCK, allowing you to set 2 different settings if desired. The BUCKn_VSEL register selects which output register you want to be currently used (or in the GUI this is what you want the startup VSEL to be). But the PFSM for example has commands that during operation in response to different things you could have it alter the VSEL so that the other output is now selected. E.g. REG_WRITE_VCTRL_IMM Command
