BQ24725A: SMBus doesn't work with battery operated

Hi team,

My customer made prototype baord using BQ24725A. However, when it's battery operated, SMBus communication doesn't work. 

They noticed that the datasheet states SMBus is enabled when Vcc>UVLO and Vacdet>0.6V. Just to make sure, is it necessary  for Vacdet>0.6V to use SMBus?

Additionally, when AC adapter is unplugged and ACDET becomes <0.6V, does all register reset?
